Long Ride

Hey, folks.  Just did my second to last long ride yesterday (05/27/12).  Went 55 miles with ~5000 feet of ascending and descending.  The Mendocino Monster on June tenth is 62 miles (A metric century) and 6900 feet of climbing.  I am very excited about it.  I'll post the results on the day of.

As an aside, a good soundtrack for a solo ride with lots of forest and a great view of the Bay on a sunny day is ambient electronic.  Listened to The Future Sounds of London, Flying Lotus and Underworld.  The latter was especially fitting.  Some parts of the ride were arduous while the downhill was easy but exhilarating.  It perfectly matched Underworld's style of going from soft, ambient to pile-driving, dance break beats and drops all in one song.

The girlfriend admitted that bicycling is probably a lot more dangerous than horseback riding.  One horse trying to kill you by bucking you off is far less risky than hundreds of negligent motorists imminently making the wrong move.  Luckily, the race will be on blocked off roads.

That's my share for now.  Cheers.
